Bulgaria vs. Austria – the battle for ranking comes to the heart of Bulgarian basketball

12.08.2025

On August 16, 2025, Arena Botevgrad will once again be the scene of basketball. The Bulgarian national team will host Austria in an extremely important match that could prove decisive for our qualification to the next phase. And if there is a place where our “lions” can unleash their full potential, it is here – at home, in the city, where the air smells of basketball.

The Botevgrad audience has already proven many times that they can be the sixth player on the court. It is here that the national team achieved memorable victories over world powers such as France and Germany, as well as over strong European rivals such as Latvia, Sweden and the Czech Republic. Each of these battles was won not only with skill and strategy, but also with the powerful support from the stands, which turns Arena Botevgrad into a real fortress.

Now our boys face a new challenge – to defeat Austria and, why not, to do it by the necessary point difference. We believe in their talent, their fighting spirit and their ability to leave their hearts on the court. Until the last moment, we will also expect good news about Alexander Vezenkov. Even if circumstances do not allow him to play, his presence in the front row, his applause and support will be an additional spark that will give the team even more strength.

Tickets for the match are already on sale online, and interest is high. The organizers are preparing additional seats so that everyone who wants to can be part of this special evening. A full hall is expected, which with its stormy applause and chants will inspire wings to the Bulgarian national team.

On August 16, all roads lead to Botevgrad. Let's write another glorious page in the history of Bulgarian basketball together!
